A new year, a new course

As you might have noticed, posting has been slightly irregular lately. This is because we’ve been busy rethinking the course we wanted to follow with Digging for Gems. Changes in our lives have forced us to move from the ‘2 article per week’ schedule we’ve followed over the past year. But paraphrasing Nietzsche’s famous quote, what doesn’t kill us, makes us stronger. In other words, we used this mandatory change to rethink the blog in order to make it even more awesome. As a free bonus, this new approach almost coincides with our first anniversary! Stick around with as we explain in this article what we came up with.

Change in direction
Moving away from our previous schedule, we are going a different route now; articles will appear less regularly, but will be more elaborate and will delve even further into the material. We’ll give you more bang for your buck, in a more spontaneous matter.

Reviews
One of the new focus points of our changed aproach is reviews. More specifically, we mean album and concert reviews. We want to show you what we think of recent events, so we’ll go to concerts and tell you whether we think you should see them if they’re near you, or should rather try to be as far away from them as possible. The same holds for albums. You may have read our latest article about Alt-J’s latest album, which is an example of the articles you can expect in this category. This all revolves around the idea that initially inspired us to start blogging: wanting to provide you with the knowledge you need to continue your own journey through all the music that is out there.
To let you in on a bit of what’s to come, some of the upcoming concerts on our agenda are Linkin Park, Gramatik and Typhoon. And that’s only the beginning!
So if you’re interested in reading about recent concerts, you’ll probably want to stay tuned to watch out for the concert reviews!

Guest writers and interacting with the community
Of course, we’re only a two-man-team at Digging for Gems. In order to broaden our scope and introduce you to different styles and opinions, we’d like to invite other people to write for us too. To achieve a more interactive way of reading and writing we’re to reach out to all the people who like what we do. In turn, you can show off the new music you discovered, help spread the movement and share it with everyone who would like to join us. This means critiqueing, sharing new artists or even writing together with us.
So if you are interested in doing some writing or sharing some good music, don’t fear to contact us through our Facebook page. Because we love to hear what our readers have to say! And if you’d like to hear more new music, be sure to like us on Facebook and pay attention to your newsfeed. Aside from our weekly Monday Mix, we’re going to share more cool new tracks with you.

tl;dr
Summarizing, what’s going to change? In short, we’re going to release articles less regularly, but we’ll dig deeper in those articles. Secondly, we’re introducing reviews to keep you up-to-date on the latest concerts and albums. And finally we’ll use our social platforms more intensively to engage with you!
We hope you’re just as enthusiastic about our new approach as we are! In any case, feel free to share your opinion and be part of the Digging for Gems community!
